01
What are holistic singing lessons?

Holistic singing lessons focus on the whole singer:  the mind, body, spirit, and voice of that singer.  This approach takes into consideration that we are all unique and complex systems, and that our mind and body influence our voice (and vice versa!!!).  The goal is to help each student find vocal freedom and tap into the healing power that singing can provide.

02
Do I need previous singing experience?

Nope!  If you can speak, you can sing.  Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned vet, voice lessons at Sara Caruso Voice Studio are customized to meet you where you are and support your goals, whatever they may be.

03
How is a holistic approach different from traditional voice lessons?

One key difference between the holistic approach and traditional voice lessons is that here, the focus is on the journey and not so much the destination.  Usually traditional voice lessons are results-focused, preparing for a specific performance or an audition.  (Side note: we absolutely can work towards specific performance or technique goals, if that's what you want!)

The other difference is that I believe, and research suggests, that there is a connection between singing and emotional well-being.  This is a key part of our lessons together, as we explore that healing power.

Working with Sara has been so much more than just improving my singing voice—it's been a true journey of discovering my voice.

From the very first lesson, she created a welcoming, safe, nurturing, and encouraging space for growth. Sara's vast knowledge and expertise have undoubtedly strengthened my vocal technique, but she also has helped me feel empowered to tap into a well of inner strength and emotion that are not usually easy for me to access.

Working with Sara has been nothing short of transformative. In a relatively short amount of time, I have learned to harness a different power in my voice, and have continued to work on letting go of insecurities of what I may sound like when I learn to express myself more fully- lessons that have transcended beyond our sessions together, into other areas of my life as well.

Singing with Sara has been deeply therapeutic. Her ability to really listen, observe, and create a space where I feel heard and supported has made all the difference in my progress. I’m not only becoming a better singer because of her, but a more connected, confident, and authentic version of myself.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with Sara, and I know that the impact of these lessons will stay with me far beyond the music itself.
